Alan S. Tofighi is an Interdisciplinary artist who lives and works in Valencia CA, United States. Utilizing a background in research, painting, performance, writing, sound, sculpture and video; Alan's work deals with analyses of the dispersion, obfuscation, and deformation of information. This is done via research and infiltration of legal parameters, history, myth, sensation, disinformation, and the inevitable parasitic transformation of these cells from fringe culture to central in its infiltration/engineering of dominant culture.

As a performer/composer Alan’s music typically lies within free improvisation and written compositions. Synthesis, just intonation, acoustics, preparations, formulaic and non-formulaic scordatura, extended techniques, and conceptual grounding are all central. Alan has performed the works of Karlheinz Stockhausen, Rhys Chatham, Elliott Sharp, Michael Jon Fink, Lee Ranaldo, Isaac Aronson, Ulrich Krieger, FaUSt, Scott Benzel, Maxwell Denny, and Pierre Henry & Michel Colombier. Alan has also performed with Michael Jon Fink, Vinny Golia, Eyvind Kang, Ulrich Krieger, and others in the Feedback Wave Riders, a trio with Isaac Aronson and Fernando Orellana, Tofighi Fenney Fink Trio, and FaUSt.

Alan also co-founded and maintained the Nouroboros Industrial Concern imprint with Nouroboros from 2007-2017, and managed the NASA Space Universe from 2011-2017. as of 2017 has begun operating the Flat Ledge Imprint.

Alan has shown work and/or performed in various spaces such as The Box,  Pehrspace Gallery, The Wulf, LACE, DA Center for the Arts Pomona, The Troubador, Orange County Center of Contemporary Art, Coaxial Gallery, The Center for Integrated Media at CalArts, College of the Canyons Art Gallery, Marquis Theatre,  Dem Passwords Gallery, Cubist Spinoff, The Bob Baker Marionette Theater, The Roxy, The Hotel Congress, Hawthorne Theater, the Metro Operahouse, and many other sites/spaces.

Alan received a BFA in Art from the California Institute of the Arts (BFA 16) an MFA in Art and Technology with a minor in Integrated Media from the California Institute of the Arts (MFA 18 )
